Inside there is the rich Melis collection, which includes over 800 fine bottles from all over the world, evidence of the oenological excellence achieved in the area.
Admire the cabrei and the ancient maps of estates and farms, which tell of the traditions passed down from generation to generation. Each object on display is a piece of history, a piece that reveals the evolution of Carmignano wine over the centuries. Among the treasures of the museum, a document of inestimable value: the announcement of the Grand Duke Cosimo III de' Medici of 1716, which established strict production rules for Carmignano, anticipating concepts similar to the modern denomination of controlled origin.
In addition to material evidence, the walls of the museum are adorned with quotes from famous writers, painters and poets who celebrated Carmignano wine in their works. Furthermore, there are reproductions of two masterpieces by Bartolomeo Bimbi (1644-1729), a renowned Florentine painter, whose original works are kept in the Still Life Museum in Poggio a Caiano. These paintings depict the varieties of grapes and vines that were grown in the area during the Medici period, confirming the historical and artistic importance of Carmignano wine. Immerse yourself in a fascinating journey into the wine culture of Carmignano and discover the indissoluble link between this territory and its exceptional wine.
