What's up - Palio con la Montata. 11th September - Capraia e Limite

On the 11th September the "Palio con la Montata" will take place in Limite sull'Arno, the competition between the four districts of the city (Red, Blue, Green, Yellow) which draws its origins from what was once the main economic activity of this territory, the construction of boats.
The competition, unique of its kind, takes place at night. After an initial phase, in which the boats take part in a traditional regatta until they reach the rope stretched between the two banks of the Arno river, the most expert athlete of each District climbs up on it to fetch the flag fixed on the top. The District that first manages to take the flag wins.
